Hi!
# Sorry, I realise I haven’t linked to interesting stuff in a while but, in my defence, that is because my brain has been broken for a few weeks, due to the whole “quitting vaping” thing. My attention span seems to now be slowly returning from the war, meaning that I can tell you to read this piece.
It’s a real deep look at the now young adults who spent their childhoods and teenage years as part of ~influencer families~ and are unsurprisingly quite fucked up about the whole thing. Also: most of them won’t ever get any money from all that work they were made to do by their parents, before they even understood what work really was!
It’s a pretty harrowing read but I do think it’s an important one. Guess all we can hope for now is that “sharenting”, as they’re calling it, will be remembered as some wildly unethical blip, never to be discussed again. I’m not holding my breath though.
# Also a good (and less depressing) read: this interview with a neuroscientist on memories, what we remember and how we remember it, whether memories change with time etc etc etc, it’s fascinating and quite snappy.
# On a completely different note! Long-time readers will know that I love nothing more than a stupid cap, and I am delighted to have stumbled upon dogecore, a brand I didn’t know about until last month, and which seemingly specialises in stupid caps and t-shirts and the like.
I’ve already bought “I can be trusted with nuclear launch codes” and am considering getting “cyberbullying victim 2002” next. “GNOMES ATE MY SON” made me laugh out loud also.
